Eva Poole-Gilson grew up in Wisconsin, but has lived in the High Sierra since the 1970’s. She has M.A’s. from the University of Wisconsin and from Mexico’s Instituto Allende. For twenty years Eva taught writing and literature for Cerro Coso College. With California Arts Council grants, she was poet-in-residence at two High Sierra high schools. Her favorite job has been as a teaching poet via California Poets in the Schools, housed in San Francisco. Through CPITS she’s taught in four counties; because of commitment to that organization, she found ways to bring over seventy illustrious poets to little Bishop, California, to work with children during three-day poetry conferences each spring for eighteen years.
